Best of British Films - 1

Carry On Sergeant (1958)

This was never originally intended to be a series, but the success of this film about a hapless police sergeant and his hopeless new recruits set the ball rolling for 31 (possibly 32 – apparently “Carry On London” is being planned…). Of the others I seem to remember “Carry On Follow That Camel”, “Carry On Spying”, and “Carry On Don’t Lose Your Head” (yet another Scarlet Pimpernel film!) being more enjoyable than most of them.

Best of British Films - 2

The Scarlet Pimpernel (1999)

Perhaps not altogether true to the books, but Richard E Grant’s performance as the eponymous hero was wonderful, and he was ably matched by his onscreen wife Margeurite (Elizabeth McGovern). Martin Shaw was okay as Chauvelin but Ronan Vibert stole the show even from Grant with his portrayal of Robespierre. Proof yet again that no-one does period drama quite as well as the BBC, who also produced the brilliant mini-series Pride and Prejudice and Wives and Daughters - which, not being movies as such, sadly don’t really qualify for this top ten list.

Best of British Films - 3

”Pimpernel” Smith (1941)

In a twist of the old “Scarlet Pimpernel” theme, this film is set in World War II where a British gent, unassuming Professor of Archeology, is smuggling enemies of the Nazi state out of Germany. This get complicated when one of the women he helps escape isn’t everything she appears to be… A sensitive, intelligent film that makes the best of its setting.

Best of British Films - 4

The Third Man (1949)

Directed in fact by Carol Reed, this features a pulp-fiction writer, Holly Martins, visiting post-war Vienna following an invitation from friend Harry Lime. However, on arrival there he finds that Lime has been killed in a traffic accident. What has happened? A compelling story (that only marginally weakens its hold once you’ve already seen it and know the twist), a wonderful music score, fantastic writers (Graham Greene, Alexander Konda, Carol Reed, and Orson Welles), with Welles in the cast along with some fine actors including the excellent Trevor Howard and Bernard Lee.

Best of British Films - 5

Strangers on a Train (1951)

Actually I've decided to exclude this film as Stephen_Murray and macresarf1 have both pointed out quite conclusively that it really doesn't qualify as a British film. As none of the Hitchcock films that may qualify more readily as British really stand out to me, I'm reluctantly taking Strangers on a Train out without replacing it.

Best of British Films - 6

School For Scoundrels – or How To Win Without Actually Cheating! (1960)

Ian Carmichael, John Le Mesurier, and Hattie Jacques join the cast where going to school is not about learning your 1-2-3s. A good guy seems to always lose out to the rotter of the bunch, so what can he do? Become a rotter himself, of course! (Horror of horrors, they're actually going to remake this gem...

Best of British Films - 7

Blue Murder At St Trinian’s (1957)

Partially because of the appearance of Terry Thomas as Captain Romney Carlton-Ricketts, and the above-mentioned brilliant cast (not all of which appear in films 3 or 4), this is just an extremely funny film that will have you laughing from beginning to end. George Cole as dodgy salesman “Flash Harry” is hilarious. The plot runs along the lines of the Headmistress being jailed and the army / police called in to try to keep order in the school – some hope of that… On the other hand, a rich Italian playboy has designs on marrying one of the schoolgirls… but perhaps that’s because he hasn’t actually met any of them yet?!? (In my top ten cmoedies, I may have said I liked The Great St Trinian's Train Robery best, but on reflection it wasn't as good as the first two - still funny though.)

Best of British Films - 8

Dr No (1962)

When another Secret Service agent is killed in the West Indies, James Bond is sent to investigate. He finds more than he bargains for, particularly in the form of Honey Ryder (Ursula Andress, whose opening scene is still counted as among the most memorable in any of the Bond films). Plenty of action, humour, and just typical downright Britishness help Bond save the day, and make this film very enjoyable.

Of the other Bond films, I think “From Russia With Love”, “Thunderball”, and “The Spy Who Loved Me” were probably the better ones. From “Moonraker” onwards it just seemed to me to get a bit too silly for its own good.

Best of British Films - 9

Whisky Galore (1948)

This is a wonderful tale based on a real-life incident that occurred in 1941. A ship runs aground on the rocks near a small Scottish island. This ship contained thousands of barrels of the locals’ favourite tipple – whiskey. In the face of an honest but increasingly unpopular English Home Guard Captain, the locals set to salvaging and stowing away as much of the whiskey as they possibly can. Starring Basil Radford, directed by Alexander Mackendrik. A somewhat similar theme is explored in the more recent (1998) film “Waking Ned”, which had quite a few funny moments of its own but couldn’t possibly match the charm and wit of Whisky Galore.

Best of British Films - 10

The Lavender Hill Mob (1951)

Directed by Charlie Chrichton and starring Alec Guiness and Stanley Holloway, this marvellous film is about a timid bank clerk (Guiness) who is about to be moved to a new department after many years. He takes issue with this and decided that he can use his existing position – overseeing gold bullion deliveries – as a chance to get his own back. Thus a grand scheme is hatched to rob the next delivery, with the help of a couple of crooks – Sid James and Alfie Bass. The plan takes them to France, but of course things don’t go totally smoothly… Wonderful plotting and dialogue helped earn this the Academy Award for Best Writing, Story and Screenplay,
while Guiness was nominated for Best Actor.

New CPR Guidelines, 2008

Hey, have you heard about the new CPR Guidelines?

The new rule said that no mouth-to-mouth required in new CPR rules (Sorry Guys!).

Just press on the chest of adult victims untill help arrives.

Maybe this change is in response to people not wanting to practice mouth-to-mouth on strangers. But I think if it is an emergency, why not?
This change does not apply in the case of drowning or suffocation. This only applies to someone who suddenly collapses and is non responsive. This does not reverse the problem, it is a bridge to further treatment.

jalan2 naik bemo..

* Lapang pandang segini mau ngeliat apa coba?*

*lapang pandang samping*

*tapi kalo ngeliat ke belakang sih cukup luas*

At last after 9 years of waiting, ManUtd goes to the Champions League final again. This time the final will be All English CLubs final. The other match between Liverpool and Chelsea will held tomorrow morning in West Indonesian Time Zone.

This morning was the first time I didn't feel sleep after all. Usually when I watch football early in the morning I always feel sleepy, even sometimes fallen asleep again.

But this morning, the match was so exciting!

ManUtd defence was being attacked many times by the Barcelona side. ManUdt had a goal by Paul Scholes in minutes 14th. Then Barcelona made countless efforts to made a single goal. If Barcelona made a goal, then by the away goal rule, Barcelona will went to final.

Until the end of the match the score still remains 1-0 for ManUtd.

25 Best of the Best Album : 1. 1--The Beatles

Assembling their #1 hits in one spot is a great move for beginners. Too obvious for most and the group's genius was partly how they turned the album into an artform of its own.

They even managed to do this with albums they didn't program, as the US versions didn't start matching their British counterparts until Sgt. Pepper's and yet the American release of Rubber Soul plays just fine.

Chances are you can sing the songs on this collection in your sleep. If not, you haven't mastered the art of singing in your sleep. Or you've never owned a radio.

25 Best of the Best Album : 2. Hot Rocks--The Rolling Stones

The world's oldest rock n' roll band were once the among the greatest and this collection spanning up to 1971 captures enough of the highlights to qualify as a decent, if not definitive, collection.

They simply recorded too many top notch tunes and until they get a real boxed set collection together--The Singles Collection is ok, but is paced with A-side then b-side and not as an album--this will have to stand.

You can always add More Hot Rocks for the extra-tasty "fazed cookies."

25 Best of the Best Album : 3. Star Time--James Brown

: I don't like to include boxed sets because "Greatest Hits" serve as an introduction to an artist's work and a four-disc box is more than just a big hello, it's an overbearing, sweaty hug from someone you're meeting for the first time.

But Star Time serves as a great overview of a long, deserving career that I'm willing to overlook just how far Brown's tongue gets jammed down my throat.

Hey, it's great to see you too! Godfather of Soul! The R&B years, the invention of funk, the angeldust, its mastery, and eventually the slowdown, it's all here.

25 Best of the Best Album : 4. Greatest Hits--Sly And The Family Stone

Yes, Stand and There's A Riot Goin' On are great albums, but Sly was a master of the single. His songs belonged on the radio and to the radio.

His ability to distill his ambitions into three and four minute explosions of joy without getting corny or preachy came from his ability to kick his band's butt into overdrive. He went crazy as a result.

Or was it the craziness that gave him the results? I think we've got a chicken or the egg theory here.

Metal and Steel

Have you ever wonder to have metal buildings or steel buildings? Are you worry about being not able to built it? Don't worry my friend. You will have help from steelmasterusa site. The steelmaster building kit contains all the components taht you need to build building.

The materials are steel based, so you don't have to worry about anything. You don't have to worry whether the building will stay last long. The building will be extra strong. Even when there are snow blizzards or hurricane, the building will stay strong. Many people have prove it. They already have metal garages which are so strong so that they can relax even in bad weathers.

Right now, there are imitations that say their products are like steelmaster product. It's a lie! Only steelmaster has the strongest product that proven by the consumer. Be careful when you buy the products. You don't to have less quality product, right?

25 Best of the Best Album : 5. Decade--Neil Young

Some people said he couldn't sing. Some people said he was too moody, too erratic. Some people think we're going to see the release of his voluminous archives in our lifetime.

Some people think they "understand" the method to the man's madness. Some people think "Heart of Gold" is a nice song and don't know what the fuss is. Well, this once 3-LP, now 2-CD collection from the mid-70s doesn't assemble every key moment by any stretch, but it gives you a good idea of the man's range.

And, no, he can't sing, by any "formal" definition, but remember those who can't sing, sing rock n' roll!

25 Best of the Best Album : 6. Greatest Hits--Al Green

Call Me and The Belle Album come recommended but here's another gentleman who belongs to the radio. Who doesn't get chills hearing that voice slink up the pole for "Let's Stay Together"?

Usually when you reduce a man's career down to a handful of essential tracks, you're, well, reducing him. Yet, here the effect is the opposite.

By reducing Green's multi-decade career into a Reader's Digest Condensed Edition, it actually makes each punch a knockout blow.

Small business loans

If you have a business you must be wondering how you will get small business loan. You just need small business loans for expanded your business. You don't have to loan a lot, just to make sure that your business will grow.

Don't worry my friend, I have a solution for you. You just have to apply to small business financing site. You don't have to worry about time or collateral. Just make your way to there. You will get easy process, fast funding, and excellent service from them.

25 Best of the Best Album : 7. Greatest Hits, Volume 2--Bob Dylan

Maybe it's because I don't ever want to hear "Everybody Must Get Stoned," (titled "Rainy Day Women, your SS# here") that I've chosen this collection instead of something more obvious. Or maybe it's because as much as I enjoy "Isis" or anything from Knocked Out Loaded, I don't want it showing up on a Greatest Hits collection.

Hardcore devotees enjoy his every burp, but the average person can barely stand his voice. So let's not overextend ourselves and force too much of the man's catalog onto people all at once This double album will do.

25 Best of the Best Album : 8. Smash Hits--Jimi Hendrix

Hardcore Jimi Hendrix fans need to listen to something else. They need to hear Jimi play long, extended solos in jam sessions and live concerts and they can rightfully marvel at the man's ability to twist six strings into so many directions.

But there are those who are just curious, who want maximum impact and don't have hours to spend with a wah-wah pedal jammed between their ears.

For those people, there is this album, where you get the poetry, the hits, the hard rock, the blues and the psychedelia in quick, crushed up doses without the long, extended guitar lessons.

London Hotels

Sometimes I want to go in holiday to London, England. I think that London is a nice city. Everything that I want to go is in London. I can have the food, the museum, the tourist attractions, and of course, football! in London.

But I wonder where I should stay in there. I want to get cheap London hotels or at least discount London hotels. So where do I must find the correct information about hotels in London? Thanks to the hotel-assist site, now I can solve my problem.

Why I trust them? It is because it operated by some Londoners. So they must have know very well about their city. All I need to do is book it via internet. Yes, central London hotels can be booked via internet booking service. If you want to go to any places in London, just ask them, they can advice you.

25 Best of the Best Album : 9. Mania--Ramones

Any of the Ramones first four albums would probably serve as a "Greatest Hits" of sorts, but while the Ramones consistency dropped a bit in their later years, they still managed to slip some fine songs into their catalog while the rest of the world seemingly ignored them.

This one-disc collection is truer to their spirit than the 2-CD anthology.

The Ramones were about speed and getting it over with, not dragging it out. Odd then that there isn't a 20-minute, 12-track "Best of" out there.

25 Best of the Best Album : 10. The Top Ten Hits--Elvis Presley

The Sun Sessions remain his most stunning achievement. But his longevity and the scope of his career deserve as much attention as his initial impact.

This dude is majorly famous. And these 38 top ten hits span decades and give you a broad overview despite the fact that nothing from Sun Records, no gospel or blues, little country and many hits are missing. (They didn't go Top Ten!)

Even without all that there's still what marketing departments call "an embarrassment of riches."

25 Best of the Best Album : 11. The Very Best Of The Doors (2CD)--The Doors

The Doors with Jim Morrison (the version of the band that everyone cares about) recorded six studio albums.

Over the years this has translated into about 35 greatest hits collections, all featuring some variation of the same songs.

This 2 CD best of released in 2007, not to be confused with other albums bearing the same name or something close to it, is just as good as the other albums bearing the same name or something close to it.

I'm sure at this point no one needs to hear "Light My Fire" again, but other songs appear quite often as well and therefore must also be important.

25 Best of the Best Album : 12. The Very Best Of--Prince

Before he changed his name, before he confused his adoring public with too few and then too many albums, Prince was a "go to" guy if you wanted a solid hit single.

He managed to write cute and clever while never losing his experimental drive.

He knew how to get weird without losing the commercial thread. He knew how to walk the line. And he never lost his inner weirdness.

But he did lose a good chunk of his audience.

25 Best of the Best Album : 13. We Sold Our Souls For Rock N' Roll--Black Sabbath

If any one band could be held responsible for both the greatest and worst sludge ever foistered on the rock music community, it would be Black Sabbath.

Sab inspired people who never should've taken up musical instruments to do so anyway, and they also inspired many others who might not have had the guts otherwise.

They made a glorious noise that often sounds like a band playing at the wrong speed. It is this "wrongness" that cast a light for millions.

And without any intention on their part led to everything from the rise of the moshpit to endless festivals where young people get very dirty and listen to hundreds of bands pay tribute in their own very loud way.

25 Best of the Best Album : 14. The Chess Box--Chuck Berry

Years of reissues and deleted collections have made it difficult to figure out which "Greatest Hits" collection is actually available. Chuck Berry's Golden Decade collections were solid and the Great Twenty-Eight made for a swell Xmas gift.

But, alas, you may have to spring for this three-CD box in order to capture enough Berry to make sense of it all. Because they have deemed it so.

Ugrading Your Computer Memory

Memory for computer is an important thing. Without enough memory you can use your computer as a multimedia. Maybe you can just only to write letter or document. But what is the point for using computer if you can not use it maximal? So you must have a good memory that running in your computer.

A good memory can makes you do many things in a computer at the same time. You can write document, listening music, watching movie, download new song from your favorite band, all at the same time! So memory is very important.

What is the memory you are using now? Do not say it is the same memory that you buy 8 years ago from your computer shop. Upgrade please! It is for your own good.

But remember to buy original factory memory. It will makes your computer run smoothly. Just by adding extra memory ( known to the more computer literate as RAM) is today the simplest and most cost-effective way of upgrading one computer, several machines or an entire network. And the price is so cheap! You just need less than 100 bucks per machine for doubling the memory! There are many kind of RAM that you want to upgrade to, for example : Apple Memory & MAC RAM, 2gb Memory Upgrade, and PC3200 DDR400 SDRAM Upgrade
.

25 Best of the Best Album : 15. Louder Than Bombs--The Smiths

Another band that made nice albums but even nicer singles.

And much like the Cure didn't always bother to put their singles on their albums.

It's a British way of doing business, whereas here in America (where I'm paying taxes) our bands have always used the single as the sucker punch to make us buy the whole album. For a British group, they make you buy the single or wait what seems like a very long time to buy the eventual "Greatest Hits" collection.

Then once they break up, it seems as if they never run out of ways to reconfigure the same hits.

25 Best of the Best Album : 16. Staring At The Sea--The Cure

Another band with a visionary--Robert Smith, in this case--who liked to stretch out over full-length albums, but who was also quite proficient at writing the hit single when it was his need. The fact that this was considered "alternative rock" at the time (the '80s) proves the music industry had gone insane.

What's alternative about well-written pop songs?

But then this was back when having a Mohawk, a body piercing, a tattoo, or being a guy wearing eye make-up would get you endlessly harassed.

There were no shows on TV featuring tattoo parlors back then. If you can believe it.

25 Best of the Best Album : 17. Echoes--Pink Floyd

One doesn't associate Pink Floyd with the recording industry's hit-record making machine.

This was a band who took the idea of leisure time to an extreme, to the point where they could be accused of loitering.

And the band's sound shifted over the years, embracing the technological innovations that transformed the recording studio. Let's hear it for air conditioning! You don't always know what they're up to, but they sure are taking a long time doing it.

25 Best of the Best Album : 18. Chronicle Vol. 1--Creedence Clearwater Revival

Creedence Clearwater Revival had the distinction of scoring a string of #2 hit singles. Not #1. Someone else always hogged that spot for themselves.

But Creedence did manage 19 hit singles that are collected here and make for a quick jolt through a past that was being imagined while it was being created. John Fogerty may be rock music's first genuine nostalgist.

And for times he didn't even experience. The band, after all, were from San Francisco and not the Louisiana bayou swamps where mosquitoes would've eaten them alive.

Mongo Ticket

Do you like to watch sports? If yes, what is your favourite sport? My favorite sport is football. I also sometimes like to watch movie about American Football and Baseball. The sports stadium is so huge and large. I wonder if people in the back seats are able to watch the game clearly.

Sometimes I also see that the people in the back seats are using telescope to see the game. Maybe it is helpful. But what is the point in seeing the game but you can see it straight with your own eyes? That is why people look for ticket-box or online-ticket. With the ticket in your hand you can make sure you will get what you buy. You don’t need to use telescope if you are sitting in front right?

You can see for New England Patriots Tickets, Dallas Cowboys Tickets, Chicago Cubs Tickets, and many other teams ticket. You can enjoy it from the front view with the ticket.

Not only for sports game, you are also can buy online ticket for the latest concert, theater, or sports events live at your nearest venue. You can choose tickets for all venue and seat locations.

25 Best of the Best Album : 19. The Motown Box--Various Artists

It's not just any label that can release a boxed set of their best acts and establish both group identity and label identity.

Smokey Robinson and the Miracles, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Diana Ross and the Supremes, the Four Tops all carved out their sound within the confines of a Detroit recording studio and the overhearing ears of Berry Gordy Jr.

The label was a hit-making machine like Disney is today but loving and benevolent where now there is only the face of evil.

25 Best of the Best Album : 20. The Kinks Kronikles--The Kinks

What makes this 2-LP collection so intriguing is how it avoids the songs you might expect.

No "You Really Got Me" or "All Day and All of the Night" and lots of songs that would never make it to radio even if the radio station owner's last name was Davies.

But in terms of the road less traveled, an alternate secret history, well, this is one long confusing garden path that leads to patches of poison ivy and long afternoons of tea along the English countryside.

25 Best of the Best Album : 21. Meaty, Beaty, Big And Bouncy--The Who

The Who were grand conceptualists, owners of the rock operas Tommy and Quadrophenia, but they were at their best with the junky old three-minute single.

This early collection of youthful frustration and sexual tension is more fun than their later songs where Pete Townshend focuses on his alcoholism, his mid-life crisis and concepts no one can explain, especially Townshend himself.

25 Best of the Best Album : 22. Back To Mono--Phil Spector & Various Artists

Long before becoming a Court TV regular, Phil Spector managed to make himself a star in a way that bass players have been envying ever since. Spector wasn't even in the band. He was the guy producing the records.

He created the "Wall of Sound," which these days bands create with one guitar and a huge overdriven amplifier.

But Spector had to be more inventive, so he pulled a musical variation of how many guys can you cram into a telephone booth in the recording studio and the result was an explosion of ‘60s girl groups like the Ronettes, who were admittedly much more appealing to look at than Spector--as anyone watching Court TV can attest.

25 Best of the Best Album : 23. The Best Of Blondie--Blondie

Though Blondie came out of the CBGB's scene that birthed Patti Smith, Television, Ramones, Richard Hell & the Voidoids, Talking Heads and the Tuff Darts, they were the only ones destined for the radio.

The Ramones wanted the airwaves, but Blondie made the most sense on them.

Besides, those other bands made great albums--well, not the Tuff Darts--while Blondie made great singles.

25 Best of the Best Album : 24. Greatest Hits--Eagles

One of the best-selling albums of all-time and probably the one album you break out if an alien lands on our planet and asks you to explain what it was like to listen to the radio in the 1970s.

And it doesn't even contain "Hotel California," which made it onto the second volume.

This is insidious music, crafted to perfection, devoid of soul but enriched by "hooks."

You can't NOT sing along. You also may find yourself nodding off somewhere in the middle. But that was what the ‘70s were like. Not everyone woke

25 Best of the Best Album : 25. Nirvana--Nirvana

Kurt Cobain had a knack for a catchy tune, but he didn't have the intestinal fortitude to comfortably accept commercial success. He likened writing hits to some sort of existential compromise.

Yet, he liked pop music, from the Beatles to Queen.

Nirvana didn't make many albums.

Three official studio albums, a b-sides collection and a couple of live things was all they made, so a "Greatest Hits" doesn't need to cover much ground.

This makes a nice Cliff's Notes version of the band and makes an entire boxed set seem a little silly.

Yaaa Habiiibb...

Playing with Video Games

Okay, another post about video games. I never said the word die for video games. It will help you relaxing after school or work. Work? Yes, even proffesional needs video games in order to lower their stres level. This based on a study in many universities around the world.

The games are also more and more interesting. Each person has his or her own favourite kind of games. Somepeople like sports game, puzzle, or shooting. I my self is in love with role-playing-games kind of. Why I like it? Because with just one CD of games I can play it for weeks. Yes, the story is long and mostly it is include a war. So the story is longer than other games.

If you like soccer you will probably play FIFA Soccer or Winning Eleven (the Japanese trade mark). Or if you like puzzle you can try the classic one like tetris. What about survival horror game? Yes, Resident Evil is the best! You must try to play it.

get real?

This is example of bad advertising which is only want to sell something without explain to the customer first.

"You'll never get sexy flat abs with crunches and situps. Get Real!"

Maybe before you click the advertising you will think, "Ow... That is right.. I have to control my eating too.."

But after you click it, you will think "Naaahhh... Just common advertising.. Selling and buying stuff.."

If you wanna get sexy flat abs for real read my other post.
