Sleepy Head

Sleep is so important in human's life. Sleep is essential for a person’s health and wellbeing, according to the National Sleep Foundation (NSF). Yet millions of people do not get enough sleep and many suffer from lack of sleep.

Sleep scientists are increasingly discovering more about this mysterious state. There are two very distinct kinds of sleep: REM (rapid eye movement sleep when we dream) and non-REM sleep, also called slow wave sleep (SWS). During REM sleep there is a paralysis of the anti-gravity muscles and the brain's neocortex and emotional centres become highly aroused.

The waking life of animal organisms is a dynamic, destructive time because the organisms' complex proteins are torn down and exhausted as they are used for activities including locating and ingesting preformed organic molecules to meet the immediate energy needs of the wakened state and to provide the building block proteins which fuel the repair and growth dynamics that occur during sleep.

Sleep has the effects for your mind and body. Your Brain Needs Sleep, so you can:

* Remember what you learn
* Pay attention and concentrate
* Solve problems and think of new ideas

Medical Hatred


Hari ini, saya lagi ga suka banget sama profesi yang namanya bidan.. Sebenernya ga suka bgt nya sama beberapa orang bidan aja si di RSUD tempat saya belajar.. Jadinya kebawa2 satu profesi itu ga saya suka.. Hehe..

Knp? Kpn2 deh diceritain.. Pokoknya bikin saya bercita2 akan melakukan pembalasan kalo udah jadi konsulen :-D

Mind Exercise

Not only your body, your mind also needed its exercise. The mind exercise can make your mind think more clearly than ever. Believe, as a medical student, I am also need to clear more clearly, especially when the patient's case is so confusing.

So, how to exercise your mind?

One hour of increased brain activity via thinking a lot or experiencing new stimuli can make you smarter, more energetic, more creative, more sociable, and more open to new experiences and ways of thinking. The key ingredients are to be open to new experiences, and changes in previous ways of thinking about these experiences.

Mind exercises can help you retain and improve your mental capacity, possibly delaying or preventing old-age dementia.

Balanced Your Weight

You have to be really careful about your weight. Overweight can be a serious problem. Overweight equals lot of diseases. You can have serious problems if your body is overweight. The diseases will be haunting you from upper to lower part of every organs in your body.

Body Mass Index can help you counting your weight. An easy way to measure BMI is to use a BMI calculator. Once you know your BMI, it can be plotted on a standard BMI chart. For kids, they are fall into one of four categories:

1. underweight: BMI below the 5th percentile
2. normal weight: BMI at the 5th and less than the 85th percentile
3. overweight: BMI at the 85th and below 95th percentiles
4. obese: BMI at or above 95th percentile

BMI is used because, for most people, it correlates with their amount of body fat. For adults :

* An adult who has a BMI between 25 and 29.9 is considered overweight.
* An adult who has a BMI of 30 or higher is considered obese.

The Food Pyramid

A healthy diet involves consuming appropriate amounts of all nutrients, and an adequate amount of water. Nutrients can be obtained from many different foods, so there are a wide variety of diets that may be considered healthy diets.

The Food Guide Pyramid is one way for people to understand how to eat healthy. A rainbow of colored, vertical stripes represents the five food groups plus fats and oils. Here's what the colors stand for:

* orange — grains
* green — vegetables
* red — fruits
* yellow — fats and oils
* blue — milk and dairy products
* purple — meat, beans, fish, and nuts

If you understand well about the food pyramid, you can teach it to your children. Your children will be more interested in the colorful food.
