Beautiful Things, Peaceful Mind

Most people would be glad to have some peace of mind in their life. They would be happy to forget their troubles, problems and worries, and enjoy a few moments of inner calmness and freedom from obsessing thoughts.

What is peace of mind? It is a state of inner calmness and tranquility, together with a sense of freedom, when thoughts and worries cease, and there is no stress, strain or fear. Such moments are not so rare. They may be experienced while being engaged in some kind of an absorbing or interesting activity, such as while watching an entertaining movie or TV program, while being with someone you love, while reading a book or while lying on the sand at the beach.

When you are on vacation, do you experience some sort of mental numbness? At this time, the mind becomes calmer, with fewer thoughts and fewer worries. Even while you are deeply asleep, not aware of your thoughts, you are in a state of inner peace.

Let me let you in on a little secret to finding peace of mind: see the glass as already broken.

See, the cause of our stress, anger and irritation is that things don’t go the way we like, the way we expect them to. Think of how many times this has been true for you.

And so the solution is simple: expect things to go wrong, expect things to be different than we hoped or planned, expect the unexpected to happen. And accept it.

Laugh, smile and make the most of every situation. To put it simply lighten up, don’t take yourself more seriously than you should. Don’t make it as if everyone is watching and weighing you out.. they have their own selves to deal with. Laughing releases endorphins the body’s feel good chemicals that send messages of wellbeing to your brain, it has the power to relieve pain. It naturally boosts your immune system and fights all germs and diseases. It relaxes your body and as you laugh all tension and stress leave and you mind is free and recharged. So go ahead see the funny side of things even about yourself and laugh your head off. I always make a joke of myself so it does not hurt when people say the same things..

How to Get Rid of Shine on Oily Faces

Getting rid of oily skin and shiny T-zone is not an easy thing to do. Everyone who has it, knows what i'm talking about. Oily skin tends to look greasy, dirty and unattractive because of the excess sebum production the lubricate the skin around the clock.

But there are some good news to those of you who have oily skin - the great thing about this type of skin is that it ages at a slower rate than other skin types. Not too bad, ha? The oil, that we hate so much, actually protects our skin and lubricate it almost like a good cream, and the result is less fine lines and wrinkles in the future.

Utilize a gel cleanser rather than soap or a creamy one if you want oil control. A creamy face wash will leave a residue in the skin and making it appear even oilier and soap is too drying and will cause flaking. Wash you face twice a day only and no more. Too much washing will dry out your skin causing it to produce even more oil: over-washing, a definite no-no when you're fighting an oily face.

Blot away shine. Use a blotting paper, made especially to absorb oil without ruining makeup, during the day when you need to squelch shine. Don't cake on lots of powder, which can settle into fine lines and look heavy.

Try a mask. A clay-based mask, used once or twice a week, cleanses pores (which often become blocked on women with oily skin).

Go for powdered makeup. Eye shadow and blush in powder form will stay put on your oily skin longer than cream- or pencil-based products.

Rule out any skin conditions. If you notice your skin becoming more oily, flaky, or breaking out more often, see your dermatologist. He or she may diagnose you with a mild skin condition such as rosacea or seborrhea, which are easily treatable with prescription topical medications.

Good Foods, Healthy Teeth

Our teeth are irreplaceable and we cannot do without them. Did you know that eating the right foods can do as much good for you as regular brushing and flossing? Did you realize that some food and drink will not only help keep your teeth in shape, but also feed them, too? Snack on some fruits and vegetables while Dental.net counts down the top 10 foods to benefit your dental health.

Eating apples, celery and carrots can help remove plaque. If you do eat sweets with sugar in it immediately brush after eating the sweets and this will help prevent cavities. Also, another interesting fact is that sweets are less harmful to teeth if eaten with a main meal, rather than between meals. Table sugar is more harmful to teeth than sugars that occur naturally in fruits and milk.

Green tea (Camellia sinensis) contains substances called catechins that kill the bacteria in your mouth that turn sugar into plaque (a sticky mass of bacteria, sugars, proteins, and fats that produces cavity-causing acid when it comes in contact with sugary or starchy foods). Catechins also wipe out the bacteria that cause bad breath. Try This: Drink 2 to 5 cups of green tea (regular or decaffeinated) a day, says Mindy Green, director of research at the Herb Research Foundation in Boulder, Colo. Consider making a thermos of green tea to drink at work. The night before, steep 3 to 4 green tea bags in 4 cups of boiling-hot water in a covered thermos for three to five minutes. Remove the bags. Serve the tea the next day over ice or after reheating it.

Sugarless or sugar-free food sometimes simply means that no sugar was added to the foods during processing. However, this does not mean that the foods do not contain other natural sweeteners, such as honey, molasses, evaporated cane sugar, fructose, barley malt, or rice syrup. These natural sweeteners contain the same number of calories as sugar and can be just as harmful to teeth.

To determine if the sugarless or sugar-free foods you buy contain natural sweeteners, examine the ingredients label. Words that end in '-ose' (like sucrose and fructose) usually indicate the presence of a natural sweetener. On the label, look under sugars or carbohydrates.
