The Food Pyramid

A healthy diet involves consuming appropriate amounts of all nutrients, and an adequate amount of water. Nutrients can be obtained from many different foods, so there are a wide variety of diets that may be considered healthy diets.

The Food Guide Pyramid is one way for people to understand how to eat healthy. A rainbow of colored, vertical stripes represents the five food groups plus fats and oils. Here's what the colors stand for:

* orange — grains
* green — vegetables
* red — fruits
* yellow — fats and oils
* blue — milk and dairy products
* purple — meat, beans, fish, and nuts

If you understand well about the food pyramid, you can teach it to your children. Your children will be more interested in the colorful food.

Healthy food pyramid is applicable to all age group regardless of the kind of lifestyle they practice. It is beneficial in having a healthy body system. But in today's rat race environment, most tend to ignore it. Taking food supplement is another good option to suffice our body's needs.
