Reveal Your Surname with DNA Fingerprinting
One day police could know the surname of a suspect or a victim of a crime based by DNA fingerprinting only! Cool, huh? The scientist that first found DNA fingerprinting in 1984 said that people with same surname are high likely genetically linked. This technique is working by analyze the Y cromosome.
" A study of 2,500 men found that on average there was a 24 percent chance of two men with the same surname sharing a common ancestor but this increased to nearly 50 percent when the surname was rare. "
Maybe this thing only could work in foreign countries where surname is a must, not like in our beloved country where a child may or may not has his or her parent's name..
Do you even have a surname?
