Body Detoxification Diet
Detox, short for detoxification, is the removal of potentially toxic substances from the body. Although detox is primarily thought of as a treatment for alcohol or drug dependence, the term is also used to refer to diets, herbs, and other methods of removing environmental and dietary toxins from the body for general health.
Detox diet plans can help you lose weight, and rejuvenate your body. In a world filled with toxins detox diets are becoming ever more important. A detox diet can cleans years of toxin build up in the cells resulting in clarity of mind, health, energy and a new beginning for people who are sick. I have no doubt in my mind that long fasts have the best results in chronic ailments. But not many people have the time or inclination nor the necessary grit and commitment to undertake such a fast.
When your bodies own detox system get tired and over worked, it slows down and becomes sluggish. You start to feel tired and restless and all kinds of unexplained illnesses set in. This is when a detox with a detox diet is necessary to clean you up on the inside and give you back your health.
To cleanse the body on the inside and rid it of toxins, some plans require that you fast. You would take in no food during this part of a body detox plan and drink lots of water, at least 64 ounces each day. Lemon juice or unsweetened tea can also be used. Lemon juice has the advantage of providing nutritional support while you go through the detox.
Fresh, organic veggies and fruits also make a wonderful detox eating plan. This detox diet is an excellent diet for cleansing the body. The diet contains lots of fiber to clean the intestines and stomach of toxic, poisonous buildup.
Often the plan starts with a breakfast of fresh fruits, then veggies at mid-day and in the evening. An even quicker way to detox on this plan is to eat only raw (or very lightly cooked) fruits and vegetables. You should be certain to wash the fruit and veggies very thoroughly if you go with this plan.
