Yes, the number has reached 1500 for mortality because of cholera in Zimbabwe.
Cholera is considered as a "second-class" disease. We can say that because it is found in developing and under developing countries.
The etiology of cholera is Vibrio cholerae. A person may get cholera by drinking water or eating food contaminated with the cholera bacterium.
The clinical signs from this disease can be mild or severe. The severe disease characterized by profuse watery diarrhea, vomiting, and leg cramps. In these persons, rapid loss of body fluids leads to dehydration and shock. Without treatment, death can occur within hours.
The most important treatment is replaced the fluid and salts lost through diarrhea. With prompt rehydration, fewer than 1% of cholera patients die. Antibiotics can be used to shorten the duration of illness.
